NAA asks U.S. Supreme Court to review cross-ownership decision Share ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() NAA joined Tribune Co., Morris Communications Co., The Scranton (Pa.) Times, Fox Television Stations Inc. and others in filing a petition on Dec. 5 asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review the decision by the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Prometheus Radio Project v. FCC. The petition asks the court to decide whether the Federal Communications Commission's continued restriction on cross-ownership of newspapers and broadcast stations in the same market violates the First Amendment and equal protection clause. The NAA Single-Copy Committee welcomes your nominations of retailers who are open to ideas such as co-promotions or newspaper-specific promotions, or retailers who in general do the best overall and ongoing job of promoting newspapers. Grants Foundation Minority Fellowship deadline extended Share ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Jan. 10 is now the deadline to apply for the NAA Foundation's Minority Fellowship program, which is designed to widen opportunities for ethnic minority professionals at U.S. newspapers to enter or advance in management. Fellowships are available for in-person and online seminars taking place from January through June 2012 at The Poynter Institute. Additionally, 27 stores will stay open until 2 a.m. on the three nights prior to Christmas Eve. Macy's noted that store associates volunteer to work the extended-hour shifts.
