Study finds ACL injuries in prep athletes don't have a gender bias
Los Angeles Times
A new study, "A MultiSport Epidemiologic Comparison of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries in High School Athletics," has found no significant gender differences in injuries to boys and girls. The study is in the November-December Journal of Athletic Training. "ACL injuries are traditionally regarded as a female athlete issue, yet this study found no significant gender difference in injury rates when all nine sports were considered," says Dawn Comstock, an associate professor at the Colorado School of Public Health and an author of the study.

Tackling the biggest problem in football — the tackling
By Herb Meyer
NFL defensive backs are the worst tacklers in football, and the linebackers are not far behind. They are trying to get on ESPN highlight films by launching their bodies as a guided missile and spearing ball carriers rather than tackling them. Unfortunately, high school players and even college players then try to emulate what they see on TV and use improper tackling techniques. To drastically reduce the number of head injuries, two things need to happen: we must teach proper tackling techniques and officials must call penalties.

To help you break out of that tired pattern, here's a five-exercise, eight-week program that can help you restore function to your shoulders, rock your core and get a lot stronger without leaving your house.
