The Township of Maplewood is seeking an assistant township engineer for full-time employment.
Under the direction of township engineer, the qualified candidate will be responsible for design, managing projects, planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and completing a variety of comprehensive engineering projects, programs and activities for the municipality. The qualified applicant must have a BS or MS in civil engineering. Preference will be given to those candidates with an Engineer in Training (EIT) and also have 3-5 years of experience in municipal engineering, NJDOT reimbursement procedures, knowledge of Public Contracts Law, Municipal Land Use Law and use of Edmunds database.
Proficiency in CAD systems is a must. A valid New Jersey driver's license and good communication and customer service skills are required. The salary range is DOQ/E, with competitive benefits. Please send letter of interest resume with salary history via email by Thursday, March 15.

NJSME will continue offering continuing education credits for PEs at all of our general membership meetings in 2018. We pride ourselves on offering low cost options and relevant topics for our membership. If you would like to recommend a topic or speaker for one of these meetings, please email Vice President Tim Staszewski with your suggestions.

Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday declared a state of emergency as New Jersey braces for another big coastal storm that could dump up to a foot of snow in parts of the state. Phil Murphy recently announced the largest amount for Municipal Aid grant awards in New Jersey Department of Transportation history, crediting the recent gas tax increase with more than doubling the amount of funds for local road and bridge safety improvement projects. More than $161 million is being awarded in Fiscal Year 2018 to 505 New Jersey communities, according to Murphy's office.
