NRHA in the news: Can critical access hospitals properly treat seriously ill patients?
NetQuote
Until recently, Medicare paid critical access hospitals for most inpatient and outpatient services at a rate of 101 percent of allowable costs. This additional compensation is provided because actual costs for small hospitals can exceed what Medicare normally allows for reimbursements. Following the recent federal spending reduction that began on in March 2013 because of budget constraints, the reimbursement figure dropped to about 99 percent of allowable costs, says Brock Slabach, NRHA's senior vice president for member services.

Telemedicine clinics make inroads into primary care
    SearchHealthIT
The article says that the health IT expansion of the last five years seemed to have left behind videoconferencing for remote patient visits. The holy grail for telemedicine advocates has been primary care, which could make video physician visits an everyday occurrence on a much larger scale.
