The parent company of Cessna and Beechcraft said it has entered into an agreement to acquire an Arizona-based aircraft repair and overhaul company.
Financial terms of Textron Aviation's deal with Able Engineering and Component Services and Able Aerospace were not disclosed.
Textron Aviation spokeswoman Rosa Lee Argotsinger said in an e-mail to The Eagle that more information on the deal would be provided when the transaction closes sometime in the first quarter.
Boeing delivered a record 762 commercial airplanes in 2015, exceeding its target of 755 to 760 and its previous year's mark by 39. The company also managed to reach its targeted 1:1 book-to-bill ratio with net orders for 768 airplanes valued at $112.4 billion at list prices. At year-end the company held unfilled orders for 5,795 airplanes.
Boeing's 135 Dreamliner deliveries appear to have accounted for much of the higher-than-expected total for the year.

Civil aviation establishments need to consider how best to reduce the burden of the Climate Change Levy while also ensuring that hangars and maintenance sheds are fit for purpose and provide a comfortable working environment for personnel. Investment in energy-efficient heating can contribute substantially to minimizing the tax burden but, due to their vast size, aircraft hangars have never been easy spaces to heat.

Following an uncontained engine failure and fire as a Boeing-built British Airways 777 jet took off in Las Vegas last September, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is initially mandating inspections of just six specific engines of similar age, configuration and usage flying in the U.S.
The FAA airworthiness directive, set to be published in the Federal Register, requires an inspection of three metal disks in the innards of the six GE-90 engines, and replacement of the parts if any anomaly is found.
Flight instructors conducting GA flight reviews and instrument proficiency checks are being directed to make sure pilots can hand fly the aircraft well enough to get themselves out of trouble. AOPA is reporting that the FAA has issued a new advisory circular for instructors that adds emphasis to hand flying skills for the periodic reviews. It also wants instructors to make sure pilots know how to use the wonder boxes and what to do if they go dark.

The last commercial airline company at Four Corners Regional Airport plans to close its maintenance operations by the end of the month.
That means Great Lakes Airlines will lay off 17 workers in its plane maintenance hangar. Those jobs are full-time and all but three are night shifts.
Chuck Howell, Great Lakes' president and chief operating officer, said in a phone interview that the company, which has maintenance operations at airports in Cheyenne and Denver, is offering laid off workers about eight transfers to its Denver maintenance operations starting next month.

Richard Rain sent in this photo of Adrian Petasis, who is 13 years old and dreams of flying for the Navy.
Richard, who has been mentoring Adrian for the past six months, says the teen tries to fly with him as much as possible.
"He has over 1,000 hours on a flight simulator," says Richard, who notes, "Adrian was flying us to Sky Bryce Resort in Boyce, Virginia."
