PAMA
Greg and John are torqued! Too many accidents, too much pilot error and too little attention to safety lessons learned.Greg and John are not happy with the state of the industry and propose that manufacturers step in to make sure aircraft don’t wind up in the hands of airlines and pilots not equipped to operate safely. It is time to put safety over profits. This episode covers recent accidents, including a plane piloted by a former baseball player, a mid-air crash over Lake Croeur, and a Pakistan International Airlines crash. FAA striving for balance in supersonic regs
AINonline

The FAA is placing a priority on supporting the emergence of supersonic technologies, but the agency must apply appropriate regulatory and environmental safeguards, said a key agency official. "Our focus…has been how we can support the reemergence of supersonic aircraft from a regulatory perspective to ensure that, as technology advances, the FAA is putting in place the necessary regulatory changes," said Kevin Welsch, executive director of the FAA's Office of Environment and Energy during a recent American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Aviation Forum.

How will pandemic impact long-term workforce?
Aviation Maintenance Magazine
Those who think the pandemic-induced drop in both activity and revenues for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry have ended the industry's workforce shortage are dead wrong and, in fact, some experts predict it will be further exacerbated by emerging technologies. AINonline
Airlines spending on maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services could be less than half the $90 billion that had been projected by aviation data and advisory group IBA before the Covid-19 pandemic. Reduced aircraft utilization, early lease returns, and accelerated fleet retirement are all driving down MRO demand, the company said at the Changing Landscape of the Aftermarket Industry webinar on August 4.

New portable autopilot could save lives
    General Aviation News
Have you ever inadvertently penetrated a cloud bank? With time, this is a likely scenario for all GA pilots.Over my years of flying small single engine aircraft, I have had the misfortune to do it only once. I’ve never been reckless, nor do I take chances. I’m what you call a fair-weather pilot. I do not fly in marginal VFR conditions and abide by VFR rules to the letter.I recall the day very well. It was a relatively nice day with lots of sunshine with some scattered clouds at 2,500 feet.
