Piper, Mx school partner on workforce pipeline

Piper Aircraft and International AeroTech Academy are partnering on a program aimed at providing the Vero Beach, Florida airframer a pipeline of production workers. Under the program, students entering airframe and powerplant training will be offered a conditional letter of employment at Piper following a successful job interview.
The awarding of the conditional letter is contingent upon successful completion of the 14-month training program at Lakeland, Florida-based International AeroTech.

A step in the right direction for unleaded fuels

According to author Ben Visser: For the last 25 years, the topic of discussion on aviation fuels has been about an unleaded avgas replacement for 100LL. I have been somewhat negative about these efforts for a number of reasons.
However, at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2021, things changed. A 100 octane fuel may be possible, with the announcement from General Aviation Modifications Inc. of Ada, Oklahoma, that it had received an STC for its unleaded G100UL fuel.

Safran Landing Systems adds Dallas-area repair shop

Safran Landing Systems has expanded its wheels and brakes support with the opening of a repair facility in Grand Prairie, Texas, near Dallas. The shop received FAA approval in August and Safran inaugurated the facility last week.
Joining the French company's U.S. repair stations in Milwaukee, Las Vegas, Miami, and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the Grand Prairie facility can provide both commercial and military wheel and carbon brakes maintenance and logistics services.

Pandemic puts dent in outlook for pilots and technicians

Boeing's annual "Pilot and Technician Outlook," which predicts the number of pilots and aviation technicians that will be needed in the next two decades, show there's still a strong demand for "newly qualified" aviation personnel. However, the company's predictions are lower for 2021–2040 than in the last two years.
The revised numbers are due to the "uneven global recovery" from the downturn caused by COVID-19, according to the annual outlook.

Eastern Pennsylvania airport adding new heated hangar

Construction has begun on a new 16,000-sq-ft heated hangar at Hazleton Regional Airport (KHZL) in eastern Pennsylvania. The project by aviation development company Olympus Air will feature 28-ft-high doors and be able to accommodate large-cabin business jets such as the Gulfstream G650. The hangar is slated to be completed in February.
