Pilatus acquiring US aircraft sales/Mx firm Skytech

Swiss business aircraft manufacturer Pilatus Aircraft is further expanding its presence in the U.S. market by acquiring aircraft sales and maintenance provider Skytech. Founded in 1976, Skytech counts two East Coast bases — in Baltimore, Maryland, and Rock Hill, South Carolina — and has served as a Pilatus-authorized sales and service center since 1993.
"As part of an upcoming succession plan, Pilatus has decided to take over Skytech, and the entire workforce of 120 or so will continue to be employed by the Swiss aircraft manufacturer," Pilatus said.

US FAA to work with countries before downgrading aviation safety ratings

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it will work with countries when it sees early indications that civil aviation authorities are not meeting safety standards.
The FAA previously would offer assistance only after the country had been downgraded. Now the agency will be able to work with a country to address developing safety risks before downgrading it.

According to author Janice Wood: Every month I put together the NTSB Accident Reports and the Aviation Safety Reporting System posts for General Aviation News. And month after month I see a similar pattern in those reports, with pilots running out of fuel or flying scarily close to another airplane in the pattern.
Lately, however, I’ve been noticing more reports on accidents and incidents that happen on the first flight after maintenance.

Gulfstream G700 and G800 engines earn EASA certification

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced the all-new Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines for the industry flagship Gulfstream G700 and ultralong-range Gulfstream G800 have achieved European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification.
"The certification of the Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines for the G700 and G800 is a significant step that brings us closer to delivering these game-changing aircraft to our customers," said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream.

Magnetic Engines expands shop space

Magnetic Engines in Tallinn, Estonia, has more than doubled the size of its aircraft engine shop. With the expansion, the shop has grown from 300 sq m (3,229 sq ft) to more than 1,000 sq m (10,764 sq ft). The larger facility provides for more shop and office space, as well as engine and engine components storage.
"This is, indeed, an important strategic step for Magnetic Engines," said executive sales director Alexey Ivanov.
