FAA awards $2.8 million in drone research grants to five universities

The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced $2.8 million in drone research, education and training grants to five universities. Research will focus on three areas: Advanced material, right-of-way rules, and flight data recorder requirements.
The universities receiving grants are Mississippi State University, Wichita State University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the University of Kansas and the University of North Dakota.

Today, NAA is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021 Wesley L. McDonald Distinguished Statesman and Stateswoman of Aviation Award: Cassandra Bosco; Steven Brown; Angela Gittens; The Honorable John Goglia; Colonel Gail Seymour "Hal" Halvorsen, USAF (Ret.); Jean Lydon-Rodgers; and General John Raymond, USSF.

JetSupport adds Challenger 300/350 Mx approvals

JetSupport Amsterdam has added the Bombardier Challenger 300 and 350 twinjets to its Part 145 maintenance organization approvals, the Netherlands-based MRO provider and FBO operator announced today.
With the approval, it will provide line and base maintenance for the super-midsize types — including around-the-clock AOG for daily operations and planned maintenance &8212; at its locations at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and at Oberpfaffenhofen Airport in southern Germany, where it opened a 2,250-sq-m (24,200-sq-ft) maintenance facility in January.

Truthfully, fall and winter are wonderful times of the year in Florida. The humidity drops to more humane levels. The temperature moderates considerably, only rising into the 80s until winter when it drops back to afternoon highs in the 70s.

SIA signs maintenance agreement with Hawaiian Airlines

for its A330 aircraft, covering heavy checks and paintings. Under the new agreement, SIAEC
will be performing 12-year checks commencing in March 2022.

Amstat to display new data functionality at BACE

The New Jersey-based company recently upgraded its Amstat Premier flight activity reporting package to include global coverage. Bundled with its aircraft valuation tool and Statpak data charting and tabling functionality, the utility is now known as Premier+.

Honeywell and Wood introduce groundbreaking technologies

The technologies, which are based on Honeywell's UOP Ecofining process technology and Wood's hydrogen plant technology, could reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by 100% using certain feedstocks when compared to traditional petroleum aviation fuel.
