FAA activates new GPS-guided routes in Alaska to fly below hazardous weather

The FAA is publishing 54 GPS-guided routes in Alaska, allowing pilots to navigate direct flight paths at lower altitudes to avoid icing conditions.
The 30 new and 24 amended Terminal Transition Routes, known as T-routes, are part of the FAA's Alaska Aviation Safety Initiative, according to agency officials.
"Flying in Alaska is unlike any other place in the United States," said Acting FAA Administrator Billy Nolen.

Banyan ramps up Gogo 5G installation provisioning

On the heels of earning a multiple STC for installation of Gogo's Avance L3 Core and Plus Wi-Fi systems on the HondaJet, Banyan Air Service (Booths 1954, 2195, 2424) announced at NBAA-BACE 2022 that it has begun provisioning aircraft in the southeastern U.S. for Gogo's forthcoming 5G service. These aircraft include a Bombardier Global 5000, Gulfstream G550, Embraer Legacy 600, and "numerous" other business aircraft, the FBO/MRO said.

Fargo Jet Center undergoing $22 million expansion

Fargo Jet Center at Hector International Airport (KFAR) in Fargo, North Dakota, is expanding its facility with a new $22 million 112,000-square-foot hangar and office complex.
As an FAA-approved Part 145 repair station and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider, the expansion will fulfill the need for growth in aircraft maintenance, avionics, and aircraft special mission modifications, as well as freeing up hangar storage space for additional tenant and visiting aircraft, according to company officials.

Updated Honeywell JetWave broadband coming in 2023

Honeywell Aerospace (Booth 2400B, 4100) said the next generation of its JetWave Ka-band satcom system is expected to be certified next year. It features multi-network, multi-constellation capability that will lower the cost and increase the speed of airborne broadband connectivity up to 100 Mbps, according to Honeywell.
