With the approval of the PAMA Board of Directors, the Nominations Committee chaired by Byron Heidorn, PAMA member # 25022180 has put forth the following slate of nominees for open positions on the 2017 PAMA Board of Directors.
Personal aircraft are typically slow to evolve, as manufacturers must work through long, complex procedures of gaining official approval for new technologies and designs from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. But that is changing fast, as recent FAA rules that took effect in August are making it easier to certify new designs, and companies are eager to bring fresh ideas to the market.

The handful of remaining pilots who base and fly their "light" propeller-driven airplanes out of Wyoming's Jackson Hole Airport have been told that their days storing their aircraft in covered hangars are numbered.
Current light aircraft tenants of the airport's fixed-based operator, Jackson Hole Aviation, include the business Fly Jackson Hole, Harrison Ford, Mike May, Lisa Robertson and others.
An Airbus-lead avionics standards-making committee is developing a new concept designed to significantly reduce the size and expense of installing and upgrading aircraft electronics. The goal of SAE ITC's ARINC Industry Activities cabin systems subcommittee is to publish an extension of an existing standard for mini modular rack principle (MiniMRP) avionics packaging, ARINC 836A.
Three weeks after Hurricane Maria had heavily devastated the island of Puerto Rico, Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico redelivered their one hundredth heavy maintenance check for Spirit airlines, the launch customer for the facility.
"Thankfully all of our employees have been accounted for and while
many have suffered from the consequences of hurricane Maria, all of

With the NBAA's 2017 Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition set to begin, Embraer Executive Jets unveiled the Phenom 300E, the next step in the evolution of its best-selling light bizjet. The original Phenom 300 was introduced to the market in 2009, and since 2013 Embraer has delivered more than 400 aircraft to more than 40 countries. Now, the Brazilian manufacturer hopes the E, which stands for "Enhanced," will follow in its footsteps, and then some.

Belite is now shipping its new USB charging ports for experimental aircraft.
The ports are designed to support charging requirements up to 2.4 amps and also feature soft backlighting, easy installation, and are also compatible with Battery Charging (1.2) standards, according to Belite officials.
"These USB charging ports are easy to install and look great too," said James Wiebe, CEO of Belite.
Ohio's Toledo Public Schools is set to announce its latest initiative in career technology options for high school students.
District leaders will unveil a plan to open the Aerospace and Natural Science Academy of Toledo in time for the 2018-2019 school year. The new academy is aimed at ninth- through 12th-grade students interested in the fields of aviation, environmental science, sustainability, and wildlife management.
Citing a lack of FAA guidance or industry expertise in training pilots for low-altitude operations, Icon Aircraft has created guidelines for pilots flying the A5 and is preparing a low-altitude training course for pilots who want to go lower than the guidelines provide. "Our goal is to take a proactive, leadership role in the flight training process and we have developed our own low-altitude guidelines from lessons learned over decades of military, seaplane, and bush flying," says company CEO Kirk Hawkins in a letter to owners and deposit holders.
