A recent accident in Buffalo prompted two senators to write a letter to the NTSB asking for an onsite investigation. The Board responded that they are not visiting accident scenes and deferred to the FAA for on-scene information gathering.

Bombardier acquisition sets up Spirit for MRO expansion

Spirit AeroSystems is doubling its aftermarket scope — in terms of revenue, footprint and capabilities — by purchasing certain Bombardier aerostructures and aftermarket assets. The combined MRO services in Wichita, Dallas, Belfast and Casablanca are now branded Spirit AeroSystems Aftermarket Solutions.

Gulfstream increases ranges of G500, G600
AINonline
Gulfstream Aerospace has increased the ranges of its G500 and G600 by 100 nm at both long-range and high-speed cruise speeds based on real-time operations, the Savannah, Georgia-based airframer announced today. According to Gulfstream, the G500 can now fly 5,300 nm at Mach 0.85 and 4,500 nm at Mach 0.90, while the G600 increases its range to 6,600 nm at long-range and 5,600 nm at high-speed cruise.
"The G500 and G600 have been exceeding expectations since they entered service," said Gulfstream president Mark Burns.

Drone-based aircraft inspection adds dent mapping capability

Two aircraft inspection technology providers have paired up to provide a combined solution for dent scanning via drone. The new solution from Donecle and 8tree will feature an automated drone to scan areas of aircraft prone to dents—such as doors, the leading edge and tail—and analysis software to map and measure dents, then generate a report.
