    Juan Perez was arrested on a charge of disorderly intoxication. His arrest was caught on video by two surveillance cameras at the Sarasota County Jail in Florida. The video shows Perez wiggling his way out of Officer Christopher Childers' cruiser. Perez, who was handcuffed behind his back, appeared to hit the pavement with his face. The officer then kicked Perez twice as he attempted to stand up. Moments later, the officer puts his foot on Perez's back to detain Perez until he was escorted into the facility. More

    'Alice in Blunderland' as United Kingdom council scrap event

    The plug has been pulled on the ironically named Alice in Winter Wonderland festival in the New Forest, U.K.,  after council safety chiefs said it was too dangerous unless the whole event was flooded with light. They feared they could be sued if anyone had an accident as they enjoyed the event that would have been lit by Christmas fairy lights. More

    FEMA changing 100-year flood levels

    The Federal Emergency Management Agency is in the process of changing the 100-year flood elevation levels in Dakota and Washington counties of Minnesota, but Hastings Planning Director John Hinzman doesn't think the changes will be too drastic here, and that it's looking like FEMA is going to take land out of the floodplain, as opposed to adding new land to it. More

    Linn County Public Health Director Frank Moore was one of nearly 40 people from throughout Oregon who took part in a three-day emergency management program taught by staff from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Fort Noble, Ala. The program culminated with a role-playing exercise in which participants used the information they had learned to work through a pandemic and get real-time feedback from the instructors. More
