New architecture school in Sudbury to welcome 70 students

Laurentian University has confirmed 70 students will make up the first year of the school's new architecture program, which is set to begin on Sept. 4. "We have been tremendously impressed by the vitality and the diversity of the applications we've received," said Laurentian Architecture's founding director, Terrance Galvin, in a release. "There is an exciting creative spark in these young people, and we know that our school is off to a very promising start."

Tender call coming for Laurentian University second phase

How urban scars are being remade into vibrant, vital playgrounds

New buildings line the lawns on the edge of the park.

4 teams shortlisted to design new central library in Calgary

Four shortlisted teams have been asked to design proposals for a new central library in the Canadian city of Calgary. Selected from 38 submissions, the competing teams of local and international architects will harness the power of platemaking to envision a 280,000 square-foot "landmark" for the East Village Calgary.

Edmonton Urban Design Awards 2013

The City of Edmonton and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) believe it is important to promote public and private awareness of the role of urban design. Every two years, since 2005, the City and the RAIC have co-hosted the Edmonton Urban Design Awards to recognize individuals, organizations, firms and projects that have contributed to urban design and the quality of life in Edmonton.
