SBA relaunches dealer floor plan loan program

The Small Business Administration (SBA) pilot loan program aimed at increasing access to inventory financing for RV and other vehicle dealers has been relaunched, and the maximum size for a loan has been raised from $2 million to $5 million. "We're pleased that SBA is moving forward with the program," says RVDA President Mike Molino. "RVDA worked with the agency on a number of ideas to improve the program. We look forward to reviewing the new rules and providing useful information to members interested in exploring the loans." More

RVDA tells federal regulators that proposed emissions regulations could harm the RV industry

RVDA filed comments recently with the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, stating that proposed greenhouse gas regulations could harm RV dealers and the RV industry. EPA wants to include motor homes under the same regulations that would apply to the commercial truck industry. RVDA told regulators that motor home usage and commercial trucking operations simply aren't comparable. RVDA also noted that the discretionary nature of RV purchases makes them extremely price sensitive, and that the proposed regulations could injure a still-recovering RV industry. More

Even with health reform law, small business owners worry about costs

Health care costs are a major concern for half of the small business owners surveyed recently by CareerBuilder. Only credit issues are more challenging to the 1,356 small business employers who were surveyed. Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives claim the federal health reform law passed did little to correct cost concerns for small businesses and have approved a repeal bill. More
