RVDA is celebrating its 40th Anniversary of serving RV dealers in 2010. To mark this important milestone, RVDA is developing a commemorative video and will publish special sections in RV Executive Today magazine featuring photos of the events and people that shaped RVDA's first four decades. RVDA is inviting dealer members and their business partners to submit vintage and contemporary photos for the project by Aug. 6. More

Ally Financial Inc. (Ally) announced that it will rebrand its GMAC consumer and dealer-related finance operations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico and begin using the Ally name. The rebranding of the finance operations in these markets will take effect during the month of August 2010. The Ally brand will be used for financing activities in the three North American markets, including activities to support the following manufacturers: Thor Industries, General Motors, Chrysler, Saab, and FIAT Mexico. More

The RVDA Education Foundation's RV Learning Center will award $500 scholarships to the 2010 RV Dealers International Convention/Expo in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 4-8, 2010. These scholarships are made available through the generous support of Greeneway, Inc., an RV dealership in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. More

Management is not a profession

It is natural to view management as a profession. Managers' status is similar to that of doctors or lawyers, as is their obligation to contribute to the well-being of society. Managers can also be formally trained and qualified, notably by earning an MBA. If management is a profession, the business school is a professional school.
