These Best Practices guides will cover, in depth, the key points from each of the ten design considerations summarized in the overview brochure released last year.
Learn how SIP building science fundamentals inform design professionals to exceed building code thermal requirements, eliminate laborious external continuous insulation, reduce HVAC loads via reduced air leakage with better IAQ, and eliminate poor insulation installation concerns.
Get your free digital version of this new brochure (pdf download) from the SIPA Store and be sure to download (for free) or purchase the printed companion publication Designing with SIPs: DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS (now on sale at 50% off until Sunday, Jan. 31).

Using LEED in the Lab
Lab Manager
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the world's leading green building rating system. It provides frameworks for sustainable, efficient and cost-effective buildings. Starting in 1998 as part of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), it is now the most widely recognized rating system in the world for practically any building type that wants to be more sustainable. This includes medical facilities, and more specifically labs, which present their own unique issues and opportunities.

Green a Building, Save the Planet
CleanTechnica
With the new administration’s robust focus on energy policy, energy efficiency efforts have taken on momentum around the US. In 2050, roughly half the US building stock will be buildings that are standing today. While new buildings will be constructed, we will also need to substantially reduce energy use and emissions from existing buildings. Typical building retrofits reduce energy use by 10-25%, but deep retrofits save at least 30% and sometimes more than 50%.
To green a building is to increase the efficiency with which buildings and their sites use energy, water and materials and of reducing impacts on human health and the environment for the entire life cycle of a building.
