In the past year, he has also received a Young Investigator Award from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and an NIH Director's New Innovator Award from the National Institutes of Health. The lack of scalable and practical technologies for digital PCR implementation has hampered the widespread adoption of this inherently powerful technique. Here we describe a high-throughput droplet digital PCR system that enables processing of approximately 2 million PCR reactions using conventional TaqMan assays with a 96-well plate workflow.

An international team of scientists has created super-strong, high-endurance mice and worms by suppressing a natural muscle-growth inhibitor, suggesting treatments for age-related or genetics-related muscle degeneration are within reach.
