From Aug. 8, 2012: What began as a LinkedIn community of global researchers discussing topics related to phenotypic drug discovery research has developed into an SLAS Special Interest Group. The LinkedIn SLAS subgroup grew from zero to 300 in about two months. The new Phenotypic Drug Discovery SIG currently is planning its first in-person meeting for Wednesday morning, Jan. 16, at SLAS2013 in Orlando, Fla.

From Feb. 15, 2012: Dan Dongeun Huh of Harvard University took home the $10,000 prize for his presentation, "A Human Breathing Lung-on-a-Chip for Drug Screening and Nanotoxicology Applications." Huh was selected from nine finalists for extraordinary vision, originality, seminal technology, applications and strategies, as well as the impact on laboratory science and technology, originality and creativity, quality of the science and oral presentation.
