The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) will co-locate the 2012 edition of its ANTEC® technical conference with the NPE2012 international plastics exposition, it was announced at K 2010 by SPE and SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association. Produced by SPI, NPE2012 will take place April 1-5, 2012, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. Both ANTEC 2012 and the NPE trade show will begin on Monday, April 2. In addition to the traditional conference sessions, SPE will organize poster sessions on the NPE show floor in the South Hall of the OCCC. More

Polyurethanes (PUs) represent an important class of thermoplastic and thermoset polymers that are extensively used in furniture, coatings, adhesives, building materials, fibers, paddings, paints, elastomers and synthetic skins. Thermoplastic PUs (TPUs) are widely used as high-performance elastomers and tough thermoplastics in a great variety of applications requiring high impact strength, abrasion, solvent, and oil resistance, as well as good adhesion and paintability. The plastics industry in keeping with the rest of the manufacturing sector has one of the highest rates of industrial injuries. Latest figures show that in 2008-09, one person was killed and 1,158 were injured in a sector that employs approximately 143,600 people.
