Osteoporosis is a skeletal disease in which there is a decrease in bone mass density. The bones become more porous and fragile making them more susceptible to fracture. This disease reduces bone density and weakens the bone. The weakening of the bone increases the risk of fracture. Among all possible osteoporotic fractures, hip fractures are a major problem in Western countries. In fact, it is estimated that they affect one-third of women and a fifth of men.

The unavoidable tension in attacking the opioid crisis is which time frame you're talking about.
In the short term, many policies that would limit opioid prescriptions for the purpose of saving lives would cause people to turn to heroin or fentanyl.
In fact, over a 5-to-10-year period, that would increase deaths, not decrease them, according to a simulation study published in the American Journal of Public Health. The study was conducted by three Stanford University researchers.

When multiple doctors are on the job, there's a higher likelihood that a correct diagnosis will be made, a new study suggests. Researchers found that diagnoses were far more accurate if they were the result of online physician crowdsourcing, according to a report in JAMA Network Open. "We are saying, what if you crowdsourced a case?" said lead author Dr. Michael Barnett, an assistant professor of health policy and management at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Accurate estimates of childhood cancer incidence are important for policy makers to inform priority setting and planning decisions. However, many countries do not have cancer registries that quantify the incidence of childhood cancer. Moreover, even when registries do exist, they might substantially underestimate the true incidence, since children with cancer might not be diagnosed. We therefore aimed to provide estimates of total childhood cancer incidence accounting for underdiagnosis.

Though estimates vary, it is generally accepted that a significant and unacceptable percentage of IT projects fail. According to a 2017 report from the Project Management Institute, 14 percent of all IT projects were total failures; a remaining 31 percent didn’t meet their goals, while 43 percent were over budget and 49 percent exceeded timelines. According to a Gartner survey, 20 to 28 percent (depending on the size of the project) of all IT projects fail.

In autoimmune diseases, such as type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells, believing them to be harmful agents. Recently, scientists have been conducting new research with the aim of devising an innovative strategy to treat these conditions. Current treatments for autoimmune conditions rely on neutralizing the immune cells that mistakenly target and attack the body's own healthy tissue.

In my experience training both military and civilian tactical medics, I grew accustomed to hearing the adage, "train as you fight, fight as you train." Unanticipated violence against first responders requires first responders, and even those responsible for their training, to adopt this training mentality.
For example, a firefighter in California was shot and killed while responding to a call at a retirement facility.
