AETC office supports AF medical training mission

Medical education in the Air Force experienced a transformation six years ago with the establishment of Air Force Medical Modeling and Simulation Training, or AFMMAST. Based at the Air Education and Training Command, the AFMMAST central program office, or CPO, is the hub of that initiative.
UCF pledges $10 million to research center in Osceola County

The University of Central Florida and Osceola County struck a preliminary deal to build a $61 million "smart sensors" research center that could lead to the creation of thousands of high-tech jobs. The sensors are cutting-edge technology used in automobiles, medical devices, home appliances and smartphones.

Bird Island, a popular boating spot not far from Little River, raised concerns among first responders. Horry County Fire Rescue said it's a place where many jet ski and boating accidents happen. That's why rescue teams took part in a real-life simulation to improve on emergency response times in the area.
Robotic Simulation Olympics get children excited about medicine, technology

The Lehigh Valley Health Network is looking for America's next top doctor. You didn't have to go to medical school to compete in the Lehigh Valley Health Network's fourth and final qualifying round of the third annual Robotic Simulation Olympics at the Da Vinci Science Center. Close to 30 participants from two different age classes competed in the event.

Teaching geriatric care to a new generation

George Palo is 90. He's repeating himself quite a bit these days and he's just had to downsize to a retirement community. He really misses his late wife. Soon, he will also miss his beloved dog, Max. This last bit of news caused a roomful of nurse educators to moan a sad, sympathetic, "Ohhhh" at a meeting last week at the Independence Blue Cross building in Center City, Pennsylvania. George is a fictional character, created along with two others to help nurses in training understand dementia and its traveling companions among the elderly: depression and delirium.
Israel, Netherlands going Dutch on high-tech

Israel and the Netherlands are pushing for greater collaboration between themselves in medical and scientific research in an effort to combine Dutch financial resources with Israeli know-how. Under the title of "Healthcare Innovation Day, The Netherlands – Israel," held in Amsterdam, dozens of Israeli companies had a chance to impress Dutch business interests hoping to tap into Israeli brainpower.
