FROM THE DESK OF THE DIRECTOR OF MARKETING |
The SSH Membership Department has recently revamped its publications, both the pieces sent to the new members each month and the membership brochure. We have also added a member benefits rack card and a rack card listing all of the affinity groups, special interest groups and sections. These two rack cards, along with the membership brochure, will be used when SSH exhibits at various conferences.
The new members will be getting the new window cling that says “Ask me about healthcare simulation”. It can be used on office windows, automobile windows and even motorcycle windshields! SSH Internal Relations Committee member John Dean of New Zealand sent me a picture of how he is using his new window cling. I will be asking the new members to send me their pictures as well. For you current members who want a window cling, we will have them available at IMSH in San Diego this coming January. ~ Kathryn Elliott Pullins

Scientists at Johns Hopkins have successfully created personalized digital replicas of the upper chambers of the heart and used them to guide the precise treatment of patients suffering from persistent irregular heartbeats. These simulations accurately identified where clinicians need to destroy tissue to restore the heart's normal rhythm. The proof-of-concept study, published today in Nature Biomedical Engineering, is a promising step toward simulation-driven treatments and sets the stage for the team's FDA-approved clinical trial slated to begin this fall.
