Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. and its oldest but smallest bottler announced that they were ending their 120-year relationship to settle a trademark feud over a retro-version of the soda that had become the Texas bottler's specialty. General Mills announced it has reached a multi-year reformulation milestone across its portfolio of Big G cereals, more than 50 cereal packages with the white check. Now every cereal with the white check has more whole grain than any other single ingredient with the same great taste. Consumers will see whole grain listed first on the ingredient list, indicating that whole grain is the first and most prevalent ingredient. Researchers at IBM have stored and retrieved digital 1s and 0s from an array of just 12 atoms, pushing the boundaries of the magnetic storage of information to the edge of what is possible. The findings, reported in the journal Science, could help lead to a new class of nanomaterials for a generation of memory chips and disk drives that will not only have greater capabilities than the current silicon-based computers but will consume significantly less power. And they may offer a new direction for research in quantum computing. More
