Packaging major Rexam says its Q1 performance is generally in line with its plans although weaknesses have been identified in its plastics packaging division. According to the company, plastic packaging saw good volumes and pricing in health care, especially in prescription packaging. However, in personal care good growth in the high-barrier food container business was more than offset by weakness in the home, personal care and makeup markets due to "soft volumes" and materials cost inflation.
