Shoppers say 'green' packaging is 'not my problem'

Shoppers show little willingness to make the effort on environmentally friendly packaging, looking for manufacturers and government to take the lead. Contrary to recent poll results by Green is Universal on consumer attitudes about green purchasing and recycling, a just-completed wave of shopper research on environmentally friendly packaging conducted by Perception Research Services (PRS) indicates that fewer shoppers agree that consumers should be responsible for recycling packaging than in 2009 (38 percent vs. 42 percent), with Midwest shoppers showing the least inclination (only 30 percent). More

Interpack, the world's largest packaging show held every three years in Dusseldorf, Germany, just finished its run with more than 2,700 exhibitors from more than 60 nations. Show organizers estimate there were more than 160,000 trade visitors. U.S. companies exhibiting at the show generally said they were pleased with overall sales leads and attendance, but they were disappointed with the number of North American visitors at the show.
