AMI estimates that the converted flexible packaging industry in Europe consumed nearly 3.6 million tons of substrates in 2009 and the business was worth approximately €20 billion. The UK research group said: "This valuation may surprise some observers of the industry as substantially lower figures have more typically been quoted in the past. Some 37 percent of consumer products could have green packaging by 2015, compared with 27 percent today, according to an EL Insights study. Some firm numbers are now in place plotting the projected growth of sustainable packaging. According to EL Insights, 37 percent of consumer products are forecast to have sustainable packaging by 2015. That compares with 27 percent in 2010. More
