Aluminum beverage can recycling rate reaches 65.1 percent

The number is a seven percentage-point increase over 2010 and marks solid progress toward the industry's goal of a 75 percent recycling rate. The U.S. recycling rate for aluminum beverage containers jumped seven percentage points, from 58.1 percent to 65.1 percent for 2011, according to the Aluminum Association, the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI), and the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI). New York investment firm Centre Lane Partners LLC recently acquired Oracle Flexible Packaging Inc. and is combining the Winston-Salem, N.C. flexible packaging company with LLFlex LLC of Louisville, Ky.
