The UK's HDPE milk bottle recycling rate has reached an all time high, according to latest industry study. The annual recycling study from Recoup shows that 76 percent of HDPE milk bottles consumed and collected in the UK during 2010 were recycled - a steady rise on 2009's figure of 72 percent, following the substantial jump from 57 percent in 2008. A Washington-based judge on Nov. 7 blocked a federal requirement that would have begun forcing U.S. tobacco companies, next year, to put graphic images on their cigarette packages to show the dangers of smoking. More

Another facility joins those involved with testing corrugated fiberboard coated with a wax alternative for repulping and recycling; 38 solutions certified so far. The Corrugated Packaging Alliance protocol technical team has approved IPS Testing Experts to perform the testing protocol outlined in the Voluntary Standard for Repulping and Recycling Corrugated Fiberboard. The protocol is used to certify the repulpability and recyclability of wax alternatives for corrugated products that have been treated to improve performance in the presence of water and water vapor. More
