Icelandic packaging processor Promens has turned to "green" energy for its latest investment at its expanding rotomoulding plant in Dalvik in northern Iceland. Last month, it installed the facility's third rotomoulding oven supplied by Reinhard India. The oven, the world's biggest of its kind run on electricity, rather than oil or gas, makes use of Iceland's plentiful supplies of hydro and geothermal energy. More

Packaging has a significant role in influencing consumers to make healthy food purchases, according to an industry expert. Legal Impackt head of regulatory Phil Dalton was responding to a recent report by private label software specialist Trace One, which said that more than 80 percent of consumers stated that packaging could mislead them to make unhealthy food purchases, leading them to obesity. Nestlé presents sustainability highlights in new report

Nestlé has reported on the progress made on its sustainability programs and has also outlined new targets. The U.K. and Ireland division released its 2012 Creating Shared Value Plan under the banner "Building a Sustainable Future." Nestlé highlighted its Easter egg range that incorporated 100 percent recyclable packaging and claimed that it was the first U.K. confectioner to offer this. More

London 2012 organizers hit 70 percent recycling target

A key figure at the organizing committee of the London 2012 Olympic Games has announced that the committee has met its 70 percent recycling target. Before the Games began in July, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Locog) said it "set a target to send zero-waste created within our venues throughout the 77-day Games-time period directly to landfill." It also said that it "aimed to reuse, recycle or compost at least 70 percent of this." More

"Recycle" and "reuse" are not new words to most U.S. citizens, but those practices haven't always reached deep into the daily operations of American manufacturing. Badger Plug Company is one of the exceptions within the converting industry. It is a book that most plants with a winding department would want to have.
