Changes in USPC helmet standards (Policy 0125.A)
European-made helmets bearing the (BS) EN1384 certification mark will be phased out by January 1, 2016. This is in line with the decision The Pony Club and other British horse organizations have made concerning this standard.

USPC will accept helmets bearing the (BS) EN1384 mark to be worn through the end of 2015, but will no longer accept them in 2016. At that point the only certifications that will be accepted are the ASTM F1163 (North America), AS/NZ 3838 (Australia & New Zealand) and PAS 015 (United Kingdom).

USPC National Service Week August 16-22, 2015
National Service Week can be a simple as taking a few hours to pick up trash at a trail head or even helping out in a soup kitchen or animal shelter. There are many ways to help out your community, and its our (your) way to say thank you and step up to make the world a better place. Wear your Pony Club shirts, let them know you are a part of Pony Club, and make sure your Regional Supervisor knows of your good deeds. PONY CLUB ROCKS do your good deeds and spread the word! Share your photos of your service to your community on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtags #ponyclubrocks and #USPCweekofservice.

Your National Youth Board serves USPC and their local communities by pointing out that Pony Club isn’t just about horses, it’s also about a sense of responsibility and giving back to those who have given to you.

Sandia Creek Ranch Pony Club Riding Center volunteered to clean up trash at the Santa Margarita River in Fallbrook. “Members of SCRPCRC love to ride in the river on hot days. The horses love it too. Our goal is to preserve the places that we, and other people, like to ride. We noticed the banks of the river getting cluttered and knew we had to help. When people saw us, they stopped to thank us for what we were doing, some even joined in to help. It made us feel like we were really making a difference that people would notice and enjoy. At least fifteen members of SCRPCRC helped to clean up, and we would all do it again to help our community. We would definitely encourage other pony clubs to do what they can in their community to make a difference. The Santa Margarita River gives us a cool place to ride on a hot day, and we do what we can to keep it maintained — it’s a great way for our club to put USPC values into action.”

2016 National USPC Youth Congress
What is the National USPC Youth Congress (NYC)? The NYC is USPC's way of recognizing outstanding H-B through A Pony Club members and providing them with an extraordinary opportunity for growth and development through a national conference of approximately 40 youth members and up to 5 outstanding Pony Club alumni. The NYC Program takes place each year the two days prior to the USPC Annual Meeting. The Program consists of group discussions, presentations and interaction with Pony Club Alumni, networking, etc. for youth members and alumni. The NYC culminates in the Honors Banquet at which the outstanding alumni are inducted into the USPC Academy of Achievement.

The NYC provides numerous benefits for the selected Pony Club members. It rewards them for leadership in their clubs/regions by giving them opportunities to network with others who share their love of and experience with horses. It exposes them to wider experiences outside of Pony Club by introducing them to outstanding alumni from all walks of life. It gives them opportunities to develop leadership skills through participation in a national forum. All lodging (3 nights) and meals (2 days) will be provided for youth delegates for the two days of the Youth Congress. Transportation will not be provided. Youth delegates to the NYC must be nominated by their clubs or centers and selected by their Regions based on the following criteria:

  • Must be members in good standing of a member club of USPC in the current Year.
  • Must embody the qualities mentioned in the USPC Mission Statement
  • Must hold an H-B/C+ or higher National Certification
  • Must be 18 years or older by January 1, when NYC takes place.
  • Must demonstrate leadership and volunteerism
  • Must be outstanding outside of Pony Club
