Transitioning service members and veterans can now receive up to a year of mental health care from the Veterans Affairs Department after discharge from the service, according to an executive order President Donald Trump signed today. | THIS WEEK'S POLL QUESTION |
|
Veterans Association of America wants to know...
Why does the VA refuse to care for veterans dental care as part of their ongoing medical services?
- I presume it's not in the overall budget.
- Not quite sure of the reasoning.
- They do care for veterans dental procedures in the first 90 days of their discharge.
- Whatever the case, it's not nearly enough to assess anyone's dental care if it had never been addressed before.
Please provide your unique response as we take each them very seriously..
As a reminder, we assess all answers with the utmost of care and consideration. Survey results revealed in next week's VAA Dispatch.

Do military service members make more money than civilians over a career? For example, would 18 year olds who graduated high school in 2000 be wealthier today if they had enlisted and served through 2018, or would they have made more money if they had spent those years working in the civilian workforce?

The Department of Veterans Affairs will soon propose rule changes to its home loan guarantee program that aim to stop lenders from aggressively targeting and pressuring veterans to refinance their home loans, a VA official told congressmen. The U.S. government wants to help military veterans become farmers.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently launched a program to help America's veterans transition from a military career to an agricultural one. We Are The Mighty
When you're in the military, every bit of civilian life is broken out of you. When a veteran returns to civilian life, there are plenty of habits that get dropped like a bag of bricks. Slowly, we learn to sleep in a bit more and not get upset if someone in our new office has a bit of stubble. Some habits, however, aren't turned off because of how much of an edge it gives us over civilians.

Logistics is an all-encompassing term that encompasses the purchase, movement, storage and planning of items that a company or organization needs to complete its mission. Logistics for the U.S. Military is largely moving people, ammunition, equipment and weapons systems from one country to another country as fast and efficiently as possible to give the military commander on the ground the most effective forces possible in the shortest time possible. Businesses can easily miss the total value a veteran brings to the fields of logistics, warehousing and maintenance because of the perceived disparity between their military skill sets and how the business operates.
In fact, there are five hidden military skill sets that are of enormous benefit to any and every company operating in the challenging and unforgiving environment of business logistics.

Veterans are mostly proud of their service. And rightfully so; it's no small thing to take the leap into the military and all that it entails. But there are some veterans who, well, they're like that one 50-year-old dude for whom high school was the highlight of his entire life and who references every situation back to "the good old days." Like that, but, you know, with guns.

The military veterans playing cards in the Albany County jail wear the same orange uniforms as everyone else, with "INMATE" printed down the legs. But their service offers one distinct privilege: a special cellblock where they can work through problems they often share, such as substance use and post-traumatic stress disorder. Such "veteran pods" are becoming an increasingly common part of state and county lockups as the criminal justice system focuses more on helping troubled former service members.
