The White House is expected to release a $4.8 trillion budget for fiscal 2021 that would boost spending for some national security and veterans programs, but includes major cuts to foreign aid and non-Defense agencies.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Trump administration would increase military spending by 0.3% (to $740.5 billion) and decrease non-defense spending by 5% (to $590 billion,), which is below the budget cap Congress and the White House agreed to last summer.

The Department of Veterans Affairs keeps "limited" research on how its care helps veterans with service-connected conditions recover, a government watchdog said in a new report. Rep. The subsequent GAO report found the results difficult to determine because the data wasn't easily available to compare and the majority of reevaluations of veterans' disability statuses did not change.

A bipartisan bill co-sponsored by U.S. Rep. The Supporting Veterans in STEM Careers Act was passed by the House after the Senate approved it in December. It was the companion piece to the bill introduced in January 2019 by U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn, R-Fla., and co-sponsored by Lamb, D-17, Mount Lebanon, and which originally passed the House in February 2019. The Senate version, proposed by U.S. Sens. At that time, every air traveler must present a Real ID-compliant driver’s license, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or other acceptable form of identification to fly within the United States.
