Facing growing criticism, the Department of Veterans Affairs said that it will not halt use of an unproven malaria drug on veterans with COVID-19 but that fewer of its patients are now taking it.
In responses provided to Congress and obtained by The Associated Press, the VA said it never "encouraged or discouraged" its government-run hospitals to use hydroxychloroquine on patients even as President Donald Trump heavily promoted the drug for months without scientific evidence of its effectiveness.

These schemes can be used to steal personal information and money. AARP’s Fraud Watch Network has reported that these elaborate plans can range from bogus COVID-19 test kits and fake veterans charities to fight the coronavirus to fraudulent stimulus checks. Now AARP New York is working on new initiatives aimed to help these families and servicemen amid the viral outbreak.

New research could help Vietnam-era veterans who served in Guam and who have diseases linked to Agent Orange file for disability with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
