What makes that statement surprising is that Embark is a leading developer of autonomous trucks. One might think that the goal of an autonomous truck company is to render drivers superfluous. The American Trucking Association estimates that there are approximately 3.5 million professional truck drivers in the United States. The Department of Defense announced Friday that service members who have been in the military for more than 16 years will no longer be able to transfer GI Bill benefits to their dependents, Military Times reports.
Currently, military members who have served at least six years are eligible to transfer their benefits to a spouse or a child if they agree to serve at least four more years.

Defense Department officials have told Congress they conditionally support opening on-base shopping to disabled veterans, Purple Heart recipients and caregivers of severely injured veterans — changes to current law that would add at least a few hundred thousand weekly shoppers to commissaries and exchanges nationwide.
The initiative to allow more veterans access to military stores, which is gaining political stream, is found in the House-passed version of the fiscal 2019 defense authorization.

Her experience isn't unique. Children can develop their own mental illnesses as a result of their parents' struggles with PTSD and other mental health disorders associated with their military service, professionals say. And there are few resources and programs targeted to veterans’ children, compared to children of active military.
Experts say the treatment needs of veterans’ children will continue as their parents continue to rotate through deployments to conflicts around the world, including in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria.
