Don't forget the service aspect of warehousing

Because warehousing is essentially a service business, the nurturing of relationships is at the heart of success in this industry. We will explore examples of both the good and the bad, and each will remain anonymous. How many examples can you find of service companies that have forgotten the meaning of service? Think about your contacts with airlines, banks, your favorite retailer or others. How many of the people you talk with display a sincere desire to be helpful?

Gartner announces supply chain top 25 rankings for 2015
Supply Chain 24/7
Gartner has released the findings from its 11th annual Supply Chain Top 25, identifying global supply chain leaders and highlighting their best practices. The top five include three from last year - Amazon, McDonald's and Unilever - one returning leader, Intel, and a newcomer to this elite group, Inditex.

Move aside Google car, the self-driving truck is in your rear-view mirror
Google and the automotive industry, in general, seem to underestimate the potential of autonomous trucks, especially given a troubling and worsening driver shortage crisis, noticeable impact these trucks can have on reducing total cost of ownership and comparative ease with which the technology can be implemented in heavy commercial vehicles and, perhaps in the future, making mega trucks a reality.

Target stores latest to jump on item-level RFID bandwagon

Shoppers choose cost over delivery speed on cross-border purchases

Online shoppers in Canada and the United States are willing to sacrifice delivery speed for a lower shipping cost, according to a survey of Canadian and U.S. shoppers conducted by Purolator International. The cost of shipping was identified most often as the single most important concern in terms of the delivery of their purchases.
