How to avoid 'sweating slab' in the warehouse
DC Velocity
If your warehouse or DC routinely develops a wet spot that's so deep employees refer to it as "the lake" and give it a name, then you have a bad case of "sweating slab." That's a real but extreme example of a phenomenon that causes cement floors to become wet and slippery, creating hazards for pedestrians and lift truck operators.

By Joy Burgess
Workplace stress costs nearly $300 billion annually, due to rehabilitation, absenteeism from work and health care. Although some workplace stress is normal, when employees face excessive stress in the workplace, their physical, emotional and mental health may be negatively impacted. As managing stress becomes a more serious problem in the workforce, many employers now offer assistance to help employees reduce stress and improve overall workplace health.
Industry Pulse: Does your company have programs to help with employee stress?

Lift truck price is no object. Cost is.
Chain of Thought
Companies can pay anywhere between $15,000 and $50,000 for a new lift truck. That's the price they pay, but the real question is, what's the cost they bear? Many don't realize that more than 70 percent of that cost is in who they put behind the wheel. Labor drives lift trucks and their costs. That's why you'll never know what your lift trucks cost unless you crunch the numbers they generate.

Why we need more (women) leaders
Harvard Business Review
There's been a lot of talk this past year about why more women don't become leaders. About what our society needs to change to produce more female leaders. There's even been some discussion about why women are better leaders than men in some arenas. Often overlooked is this basic reality: what the world needs is more leaders, of whatever gender or any other characteristic.
