Tips for overcoming your blind spots
    Harvard Business Review
We all have such blind spots, and they are weaknesses we should combat. Even that idea is unfashionable in an era when we are urged to focus on polishing strengths. In the world of professional music, it's often the opposite. Most conductors, for instance, begin rehearsals by directing the orchestra immediately to the most difficult passages in a given piece, and spend most time on them, because they are areas of weakness. But how do managers work actively to fight weaknesses of which, by definition, they are insufficiently aware?

EAPs keeping families healthy and strong
    By Jessica Woods
Employee assistance plans are so much more than just a way for employees to seek help for workplace-related stress. They offer employees and their families an opportunity to seek help for problems that can destroy lives if left untreated. They offer employees a chance to feel better about themselves, their work and their family life. By offering a solution that doesn't cost lots of money and that won't negatively impact an employee's career, employers that provide an EAP are giving their workers and their families a chance for a healthier, happier future — and that's good for everyone.

That represents about $7 billion per year in sick days and lost productivity. It's no wonder that some companies are considering requiring that employees get a flu vaccine every flu season. However, before implementing such a requirement, companies need to consider many different factors.
