The countries that drank the most Scotch in 2021
VinePair
As we enter the latter half of 2022, many industries have been forced to recalibrate due to the challenges brought on by the pandemic, from disrupted supply chains to inflated pricing models. While the Scotch industry had not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels, data released earlier this year by the Scotch Whisky Association demonstrates that last year was the first return to growth for the industry since 2019.

Wine Searcher
Burgundy's prestigious grands crus have long sat alone on the metaphorical viticultural throne.
Talented winemakers, long-standing legacies and – above all – unmatchable, hallowed growing sites have continued to push these wines to the top of coveted wine lists everywhere.

Have we gone too far on drink of the summer predictions?
Eater New York
Mezcal, the centuries-old agave spirit that’s been popular in New York City bars for years, is apparently the drink of the summer. Wait, what? “If you still believe mezcal is a joke with a worm as the punchline, it’s time to catch up,” the New York Post wrote, crowning mezcal cocktails of any kind “summer’s hottest drink.”

Georgia's ancient wine culture has lasting relevance
Wine Enthusiast Magazine
On a hilltop in Tbilisi, the buzzy capital of Georgia, stands a 65-foot statue, Kartlis Deda (“Mother of Georgia”). She holds a sword to fend off attackers in one hand and, in the other, a bowl of wine to welcome friends in a typically Georgian fashion.
Constructed in 1958 to commemorate the city’s 1,500th anniversary, Kartlis Deda has lasting relevance.

How to pick your wine by its alcohol content
The Manual
Whether you’re into dry reds, fruity whites, or bubbly prosecco, the alcohol content of red and white wines, as well as other types of wines, is different from bottle to bottle. The alcohol by volume of your wine can affect its taste in more ways than one. To reach that perfect flavor profile, your wine needs to have just the right balance of sugar, alcohol, acid and tannin.

Push to change alcohol licenses in Massachusetts survives high court challenge
WBTS-TV
An initiative petition seeking to change state liquor-licensing laws remains alive after the Supreme Judicial Court ruled that Attorney General Maura Healey correctly certified it to appear before voters on November's ballot.
The high court rejected a challenge to Healey's certification, which argued the question did not meet the Constitutional requirement that initiative petitions contain only matters that are related or mutually dependent.

What to use if you don't have a cocktail strainer
Tasting Table
It's certainly possible to make professional quality cocktails without professional quality equipment — from juicers, peelers and muddlers to cocktail shakers and strainers — but a bit of ingenuity is often needed to do so. The art of bartending, after all, consists not just in mixing the proper ingredients in their proper proportions, but in finding imaginative ways to overcome unforeseen obstacles.

How to get into the Dirty Shirley trend this summer
InsideHook
In case you haven’t heard, the powers that be at the New York Times have spoken: the Dirty Shirley is officially the drink of the summer. Not unlike the Aperol Spritzes and espresso martinis that came before it, it’s been a bit of a divisive pick.
