French spirits industry sees inflation giving 2022 bitter taste

The French spirits industry faces a difficult year due to geopolitical constraints, soaring inflation and COVID-19 restrictions in China, after sales staged a partial recovery in 2021, industry group Federation Francaise des Spiritueux said on June 21.
"The year 2022 is far more complex," FFS Chairman Jean-Pierre Cointreau told reporters.

The global spirits market grew to a value of €464 billion in 2021 but was unable to return to pre-pandemic levels, new data has revealed.

The Irish Whiskey Association has published a road map for how its industry will decrease its environmental and carbon impact, enhance its role in the regenerative and circular economy and deliver a positive impact for communities.
According to a statement published on Ibec.ie, the measures outlined in the road map, which is called Irish Whiskey: Sustainable Together, include water usage reduction, Irish farming support, circular economy support, energy efficiency, planting trees, and an all-Ireland pollinator plan.

Queen's jubilee boosts supermarket alcohol sales by over a third

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee helped push sales of alcohol up by a third, according to Kantar, although U.K. grocery inflation has hit its highest level in 13 years.
The boost from alcohol sales contributed to a wiser jubilee sales bonanza, which saw shoppers splash out an extra £87 million in the supermarkets.
