There is a considerable difference between physician-recommended and actual orthosis use among patients with clubfoot, and parent-reported use is often overestimated, particularly among young children, according to a study published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

Originally, the concept for

terms of the opioid epidemic and
prescription efficiency. Equally relevant to podiatric physicians is the
brief exploration of issues regarding
prior authorization and compounding pharmacies.

A new proposed classification for skin and soft tissue infections was partly inspired by an existing classification for diabetic foot infection.
In the late '90s, the FDA proposed a system that categorized skin and soft tissue infections as complicated or uncomplicated. The complicated infections were ones that involved deep structures or required surgical intervention and the uncomplicated infections were superficial. In 2013, the FDA revised this system and it included only three kinds of infection: cellulitis/erysipelas, wound infection and major cutaneous abscess.

Physicians attending the American College of Physicians conference in San Diego took part in a discussion of OpenNotes, the transparency movement founded in 2010 that now provides access to notes for more than 12 million patients nationwide.

Bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation, otherwise known as "Nora's lesion," is a rare benign neoplasm first described by Nora in 1983. The exact etiology of this neoplasm remains unknown, and its presentation in the lower extremity presents a diagnostic challenge, as both clinical and radiologic features cannot fully differentiate it from other neoplasms. We present the case of a 48-year-old female with plantar heel pain secondary to Nora's lesion mimicking plantar fasciitis and periosteal osteosarcoma.
