Tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis (TTCA) with an intramedullary rod is a viable treatment option for a myriad of pathologies involving the foot and ankle. While the current literature has focused on fixation techniques, deformity correction, and clinical outcomes, we are unaware of any studies specifically examining change in height following a TTCA.

Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is one of the most serious complications of diabetes, and about 30% of diabetic patients will develop into a foot ulcer in their lifetime. Recurrent foot ulcer refers to the new foot ulcer in a person who has a history of foot ulceration, regardless of previous foot ulcer location and the time of previous foot ulceration.

A 2019 randomized controlled trial (RCT: n=70) evaluated the effectiveness of wearing a dynamic stretch hallux valgus (HV)brace for at least three months in patients with symptomatic HV considering surgery. Patients were nonobese adults, and those with degenerative changes in the first metatarsophalangeal joint were excluded. Patients were assigned to either the dynamic stretch brace or usual care.
