Intractable plantar fasciitis can be a difficult condition to treat. Early results of platelet rich plasma injection have been promising. We compared PRP to traditional cortisone injection in the treatment of chronic cases of plantar fasciitis resistant to traditional nonoperative management. The aim of the study was to compare the efficacy of PRP to that of Steroid at three, six and 12 months after injection.

Professional burnout among U.S. physicians has reached a dangerous level, with more than half of physicians affected, according to the results of a 2014 national survey across various medical specialties and practice settings. Patients with diabetes who have foot complications may be at greater risk for cognitive impairment. This is the conclusion of a study by researchers from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel.
Study coauthor Dr. Rachel Natovich, a Ben-Gurion University Ph.D. graduate, and colleagues presented their findings at the American Diabetes Association's 75th Scientific Sessions in Boston earlier this year.
One of the most severe complications of diabetes is "diabetic foot." If not managed effectively, high blood sugar levels that occur with diabetes can cause nerve damage that results in loss of feeling in feet, meaning foot injuries such as cuts or blisters may go unnoticed.

When you hear the words "running gait analysis," what do you think of? Most people will envision running on a treadmill in a store while your foot motion is then observed. And the point of this? To make sure you have the correct running shoes, of course. Words like overpronation and neutral, cushioning or motion-control shoes are usually bandied about following your "analysis." For many people this is a worthwhile thing to do, but the observation shouldn't stop at the feet.

Diabetic foot infections are among the most serious and common complications encountered in patients with diabetes mellitus. According to the American Diabetes Association,
diabetes affects 26 million people in the U.S. and more than 366million people worldwide. Up to 25 percent of those with diabetes will develop a foot ulcer, and more than half of all foot ulcers will become infected, with
20 percent of those requiring amputation. Readmission rates for DFI patients are approximately 40 percent and nearly onein six patients dies within one year of
infection. Given these alarming statistics, DFIs remain a constant challenge facing healthcare providers across all
medical disciplines.

Health profession students develop practical skills whilst integrating theory with practice in a real world environment as an important component of their training. Research in the area of practice placements has identified challenges and barriers to the delivery of effective placement learning. However, there has been little research in podiatry and the question of which factors impact upon clinical educators' capacity to engage with the role remains an under-researched area. This paper presents the second phase of an action research project designed to determine the factors that impact upon clinical educators' capacity to engage with the mentorship role.
