Natural Resources Canada is pleased to announce the second edition of the Map of Clean Energy Resources and Projects (CERP) in Canada.
The seven new layers added in the latest edition explore Canada's biomass, geothermal and uranium resource potential as well as clean technology incubators and accelerators, upcoming major clean energy projects, nuclear stations and geothermal heating facilities in Canada. The CERP map has also been updated to show clean energy test centres and energy generating stations in Canada for hydro, tidal, wind, solar and more!
Now, at the click of a button, you can find out where Canada's clean energy projects are located and how much clean energy resource potential exists across the country. In addition, you can access our RETScreen software to learn how to improve energy efficiency and conduct feasibility analysis for energy projects. We encourage you to explore the map and share broadly.

The Ontario Geological Survey (OGS) completed the first year of a three-year geological mapping project along the Highway 11 corridor last summer, a project that will guide land use planning for the corridor between Cochrane and Kapuskasing.
Quaternary or surficial mapping is the study and cataloguing of the loose material atop the bedrock, left behind by the movement of receding glaciers.
Specifically, Quaternary refers to the period of time lasting the last several hundred thousand years, noted Richard Dyer, manager of geoscience mapping in the Earth Resources and Geoscience Mapping Section of the OGS.

Guelph Mercury
A pilot project at the city's wastewater treatment plant aims to demonstrate how new technology can drastically reduce the cost of water treatment.
Delegates recently met at the facility on Wellington Street, just west of the Hanlon Expressway, to cut a bright red ribbon and officially launch the project.
The pilot is a collaboration between the University of Guelph, McMaster University and General Electric Water and Process Technologies.

New exploration drill results from both surface and underground at the Taylor gold mine 53 kilometres east of Timmins has resulted in new discoveries and extensions to mineralized zones says owner Kirkland Lake Gold of Toronto. Kirkland Lake Gold has identified three major mineralized zones at Taylor — the West Porphyry deposit where current mining takes place, the Shoot deposit to the west, and the Shaft deposit to the east.

Kawartha Conservation is encouraging residents and businesses who rely on wells to provide input on their water woes through a new interactive drought map. The new tool is part of the Kawartha Water Response Team's ongoing efforts to educate and inform watershed residents and businesses about low-water conditions.
For much of 2016, parts of Scugog Township were under a Level 3 low-water condition due to ongoing drought conditions. Mixed precipitation over the past few weeks helped reduce that warning to a Level 1.
The map allows the public to select a general area where their well is located and then provide comments. No personal information is required.

A Toronto mine developer announced it is one step closer to carving out an open-pit gold mine near Gogama in northeastern Ontario.
IAMGOLD Corporation liked what it read in a conceptual preliminary economic assessment for its Côté Gold Project and has already moved to the pre-feasibility stage.
The company is crunching the numbers on the viability of digging a pit and building a processing mill at a site five kilometres west of Highway 144.
