On Sept. 22, 2017, APGO hosted the MOECC's information session on the ABC's of Conceptual Site Models at Twenty Toronto Street. It was a full room consisted of P.Geo.'s and C of A holders' staff. The event was part of APGO's initiative to provide a forum for the MOECC and APGO members to come together to bring clarification on expectations around RSC and RA submissions.

This month, Craig and James presented on the Overview of NI 43-101 and Mining Disclosure Basics and NI 43-101 Technical Reports: Basics and Pitfalls. Both webinars were very well received. It is considered to be one of the best gold mine camps in Canada, and the reclamation underway at the Hemlo Gold Camp near Marathon, ON, could also make it one of the best mining cleanups in the country.
The Hemlo camp was home to three mines, operating side by side, for nearly three decades. Now, the Golden Giant and David Bell Mines are empty fields.

Upgrades are on the way for the Blenheim Wastewater Treatment Plant, in an effort to reduce the amount of phosphorus entering the Great Lakes.
The Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission has announced that the facility will be getting a $450,000 upgrade to the treatment process.
"The Blenheim Wastewater Treatment Plant, located at 19819 Lagoon Rd., will be undergoing upgrades to the chemical treatment system and headworks system," the CK PUC says in a news release. "The plant was last upgraded in 1997."

A consultant for First Mining Finance said there's good potential to build an open-pit gold and silver mine under a lake in northwestern Ontario.
The Vancouver mine developer released a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) for its Springpole Project that shows a 12-year mine life for its deposit located 110 kilometres northeast of Red Lake.
The report's authors, SRK Consulting, recommend moving to a pre-feasibility study. The Springpole project is located in a remote area and covers 32,448 hectares. It's regarding by First Mining as "one of Canada's largest undeveloped gold projects."

The quality of the effluent that is discharged into Owen Sound bay from the city's newly upgraded waste water treatment plant has exceeded all expectations, city officials say.
"We've achieved even more than we could have anticipated achieving," Mayor Ian Boddy said during a recent grand opening event for the $48 million facility on 3rd Avenue East.
Ken Becking, director of public works and engineering, said the federal and provincial governments set out the regulatory limits for contaminants like ammonia, phosphorus and suspended solids in treatment plant effluent.

North Perth has secured provincial funding to assist its wastewater upgrades.
The Clean Water and Wastewater Fund Ontario is contributing just under $640,000 toward the project.
Manager of Environmental Services Mark Hackett says the funding is for a key area of the upgrades.
"One of the projects we're initiating is the replacement of our aerobic digester for bio-solids, so that's what it's going towards."

The soft soil that lines the ancient lake bed that Mexico City is built on amplified the shaking from the recent earthquake and increased its destructive force, seismologists say, as they try to better understand the quake that has killed more than 200 people.
Scientists are looking at other quirks of the magnitude 7.1 earthquake, including the absence of aftershocks and if it is somehow related to a distant, even stronger, Mexican temblor that struck a dozen days earlier.
