Sudbury got a chance to show off the latest mining innovations being incubated to new and longtime business partners from Chile.
A group of 18 delegates from several mining companies sponsored by Pro Chile, an export promotion association, were in the city last month to visit Sudbury-based mining supply companies, take a tour of the NORCAT test mine in Onaping, and check out the Centre for Mining Excellence facilities at Laurentian University.

A new study from Statistics Canada draws data from an unexpected source to suggest Halifax has the highest rate of cannabis consumption per capita among five urban centres across the country.
The national statistics agency launched its study in March, using a relatively new technology called wastewater-based epidemiology.
Researchers analyzed wastewater from 15 treatment plants across Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver to produce statistics on cannabis use.

A test mining program by Pure Gold Mining at Red Lake yielded 56 per cent more gold than expected.
The Vancouver mine developer is working on a feasibility study to bring the former Madsen Mine in northwestern Ontario mine back into production. Part of that process began last June with the extraction of a 7,100-tonne bulk sample.
