Diversity + Inclusion (D+I) is a term often used in the workplace, but its meaning is not well understood. People generally value the concept, but its nebulousness has kneecapped the movement. In fact, people often mistakenly think that, with creation of a diverse workplace, inclusion will automatically follow. Yet, inclusion should exist in tandem; it’s the climate where diversity thrives.

GBA Executive Director

I am starting to hear concerns about declining backlog by GBA Member-Firms as they wonder when business development will get back to normal. The question is not “When will business development will go back to normal?” Business development and client management is never going back to where it was before COVID. The question is, how quickly can you modernize so you can embrace the future of business development, sales and client management and come out of COVID ready to take on the new, fast, online, customer-centric, content-rich, and technology-enabled world of modern buying and selling of professional services:
In place of field sales, remote sales.
- In place of ad hoc, technology-enabled processes.
- In place of manual, automated.
- In place of travel, videoconferencing.
- In place of “custom presentations,” content management
- In place of presentations at all, discovery sessions
This issue of GBA NEWSlog is infused with emerging business development and client management information as we look beyond COVID to fill our pipelines now.
Here are a couple of GBA reference documents that will help you fill your pipeline:
Each GBA Member-Firm has identified a primary point-of-contact or Ambassador. Their role is to act as a funnel of information from GBA to all the employees of their firm and increase engagement for all. This week, our Executive Director will connect with all GBA Ambassadors to share valuable resources and find out how we can better serve our members.
If you are a GBA Ambassador, please consider joining us on November 19th or 20th. If you want to find out who the Ambassador is for your firm, please contact us.

As Americans look to rebuild the economy post-pandemic, it is essential to remember that there is hope for tomorrow despite the difficulty and uncertainty that have defined these past months.
While a significant amount of business activity came to a halt this year, pockets of the economy have continued to push forward. Deemed essential, the continued efforts of construction, infrastructure, and engineering professionals have provided stability in the public project sector throughout the country.
As the nation slowly begins to pick back up and sets its sights on the future, public projects will play a crucial role in rebuilding the economy and creating the elements for a more prosperous country. We are fortunate to have the funding and capabilities to capitalize on both existing and upcoming projects that offer infrastructure, transportation, and education improvements, while simultaneously providing employment opportunities in a struggling job market. Below are a few of the roles public projects will play in returning to economic vibrancy, along with an insight into how Raba Kistner, Inc. plans to navigate the future through a broadened scope and proven experience.
