Millions Are Willing to Donate Organs, but Relatively Few Do. Here's Why
The Lawton Constitution
The scene at OneLegacy in Asuza on a recent Friday morning would have been familiar to anyone who's been in a hospital intensive care unit. Three adults were tucked into hospital beds, still and apparently asleep, with ventilators and other machines of artificial life doing the work that their bodies couldn't do. If you didn't know better, you'd think all the tubes and wires and boxes and screens were designed to save the lives of these patients, but it was too late for that.

Drone-Delivered Lungs Are a Game-Changer for Organ Transplant Science
Boing Boing
In September 2022, a groundbreaking drone test in Canada successfully delivered lungs for transplant, marking a game-changing moment for organ transplant science. The drone transported the human donor lung in just five minutes, compared to 25 minutes by road. Study Suggests Fixes for Persistent Geographic Inequity in Liver Transplants
Maryland Today
The recent overhaul of the federal policy on allocating deceased donor livers has not significantly improved geographical inequities yet has led to a greater loss in viable organs, according to a new study co-authored by University of Maryland researchers. They recommend improving the broader sharing approach outlined in the 2020 policy, known as Acuity Circles, to mitigate inequities across regions of the country; these include variations in transplant rates, patient survival rates, waiting times and organ offers.
