$3.7 million project underway to move power lines from Langford's Starlight Stadium

Work is a underway on a $3.7 million project to move BC Hydro transmission lines to allow for expanded capacity at Starlight Stadium in Langford, B.C.
The project will see the relocation of two transmission towers. The first tower with be moved just a few metres while the second tower will be moved from inside the stadium to the north side of the Langford Parkway.

BC Hydro rebate and B.C. Affordability Credit coming as David Eby sworn in as premier

David Eby is handing out cash on his first day on the job.
The new B.C. premier announced on Friday morning families and small businesses in B.C. will get a one-time cost of living credit on their BC Hydro bill this fall, and a new B.C. Affordability Credit in January.
Eby focused on the issue of affordability in his speech following being sworn in as B.C.’s 37th premier.

He began drinking alcohol at age 15 and liked the way it made him feel.
“I quite enjoyed the feeling of intoxication, of drinking, and it became a big part of my life,” the masonry worker recalls.
In construction, he’d spend the day on the job and, immediately after putting down the tools, would head to the bar or the back of his pickup truck to get a cold one.

Heavy construction loads adding weight to B.C. Ferries trips to Gulf Islands

B.C. Ferries has won permission to carry more weight on the Salish Heron, as a growing number of heavy commercial vehicles use the vessel to travel between Swartz Bay and the Southern Gulf Islands.
Lloyd’s Register notified B.C. Ferries that the vessel is now allowed to carry an additional 150 tonnes — equivalent to about three more construction vehicles.

That’s how much it’s estimated to cost for permanent repairs to B.C.’s highways after last November’s disastrous floods.
Along the Coquihalla Highway alone, there were six bridges where spans completely collapsed or suffered severe damage, according to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
