5 time-saving tips for using PDFs in proposal writing
By Joe Latta
In today's increasingly competitive marketplace, many professional services firms are submitting more proposals and dedicating more time to their research, development and customization. For instance, in the legal field, a recent LexisNexis study found that 42 percent of firms have increased their proposal volume over the last 12 months; only 7 percent have decreased.

Boom in electronic gadgets prompts libraries to offer more e-books
Many library books still aren't available in electronic form: Librarians say publishers refuse to make some titles available, or set prohibitive terms for libraries — such as fees that are three or four times the retail price of an e-book, or limits on how often a book can be loaned out — for fear that free downloads will cut into their sales. And in some cases, library patrons face a confusing array of e-book lending platforms and formats. But those platforms are getting simpler and more standardized, making it easier for users to borrow e-books from major publishers as well as small independents, and read them on a variety of electronic devices.

Report: E-books to outsell print by 2018
The sale of printed books will be outstripped by e-books by 2018, a new report by Pricewaterhouse Coopers has suggested. It says the consumer e-book market — which excludes textbooks and professional manuals — will increase in value from £380 million to £1 billion. At the same time, sales of printed books are forecast to fall by a third.
